Slate deposits Slate deposits occur on almost all continents. Besides Europe, there are also extensive deposits in Northern America (Canada, US), China, South America (Argentina, Brazil). In other countries like Vietnam one can find slates, which are more or less of local or regional importance. The greatest portion in respect to production and consumption lies probably in Europe, whereas Spain indisputably gets the first place. On this pages several orogenic slate deposits are described whereas
the author is aware of gaps regarding the completeness. Yet a complete
investigation of all (roofing-) slate deposits was not the main
aim of this project and can be done in future works. |
